I’ve had my hp mini for about a month now, and I just love it. It is super portable, and easy to use. I can connect to the internet in a flash!
I really like the built-in webcam, it has got a lot of use so far and the picture is superior to most webcams I’ve used in the past.
The only thing I don’t like so far is Windows 7, but mostly just because it’s an adjustment. I have, however, mostly adjusted to it by now.
So far I have had no issues with the short battery life. Most places I go I can plug it in, and if I can’t it’s no big deal.
I have a large music library that has barely made a dent in the hard drive.
So far, no complaints, totally happy with my purchase!

(I bought the Windows XP mini with 1 gb memory) I had decades of composition books filling boxes so I decided to switch from handwriting my personal journal to typing. I’m a very fast touch typist. I, too, ran into the randomly jumping cursor problem, but I’m not fond of touchpads so I just got a wireless mouse and turned off the touchpad. The only catch is I can’t plug in the mouse wireless USB adapter until after XP has booted or it hangs. No biggie.
I love the 11.6″ screen and the quality of the display. I use the Microsoft Works word processor provided with the Rockwell font set to 14 pt. My eyes never tire. If there is a glare problem because I’m sitting by a sunny window, I just crank up the brightness.
My attitude adjustment and/or political activist time is spent at any cafe with wifi: reading online news; researching political, environmental, and health issues; using Facebook (the pics I’ve taken with the built in cam for my profile photo are great and I change them often), and writing. This HP has been more than adequate. And the only real wait I’ve experienced is booting up. I just sip my coffee and space out for a few minutes.
For those of you attached to handwriting (and I was, even had to have particular type of notebook and pen), there is a bit of a transition to typing (the hand-brain rhythm is different). But I love being able to spell check then save to a jump drive.
I haven’t used it yet, but I am impressed with the HDMI port and built in SD, etc. card reader.
Beware. Most netbook sleeves are made for the 10″ ones. I use a padded Case Logic bag that looks like a narrow messenger bag. One large pocket for the mini; another for the power adapter (I never charge at home), wireless mouse, etc.

So far, so good. I’m very happy with my Mini. I bought it because I had owned an HP Mini 1020 for over a year and was pleased with it. My change was because of more advanced technical specifications, such as: a bigger and faster HD(60GB vs. 250GB, muuuuuuch longer battery life (which means I don’t have to carry the charger around anymore), prettier (it’s red), VGA, ethernet and three USB connections, etc.
BUTS… I don’t believe it: IT DOES NOT HAVE BLUETOOTH!!!! My other HP Mini, much simpler, had it. The Amazon product description said this one did but … oh, surprise: no, it does not have it. That’s why I gave it a 4 star rating. So what, I can live without bluetooth. =)

This netbook feels fantastic. Its thin and light, has a sold high-end build quality, and works simply as advertised. I recommend installing the netbook version of Ubuntu on here since Windows 7 Starter is a little slow on these basic netbook components. This is a typical netbook with a high class feel.
However, the OEM loaded BIOS is outdated and if you let your battery drain to complete 0% it wont recharge. Once you get this laptop first thing you need to do is to flash the BIOS to the newest version that fixes this bug. I did it on my own, some easy instructions online to do so. After doing this, I am very happy with this product. It works decently for what I need it for (College), and it looks better than the typical cheep plastic netbooks that are out there.

Bought this Netbook mainly for a backup to my Desktop, to use when there is lightning/thunder in the area, and to use as a type of Ebook reader and a pdf reader (for the local E-newspaper). Power adapter sometimes runs a little hot, and I am not sure about how accurate the 8.5 battery life claim is.

After reading some of the reviews that were left to rate this machine, I could not help jumping in to add my 2 cents. I will try to be concise and to the point:
This Asus Eee is superior to many other netbooks in this category, namely Toshiba NB205-N325BN (that I own and planning to sell) in all aspects except perhaps a battery life. I have just bought this Asus model as a gift to my relative and have been able to test it while setting this up.
Asus Eee has these Key Advantages:
* Great textured mouse pad, much better than one found on Toshiba
* Speaker is also much louder
* Performance is not as lagging as Toshiba’s
* Asus has Windows XP! This is really huge! Windows 7 Starter should never have been on netbooks to begin with. W7 Starter is pure trash with 90% limitations and is very, very slow despite my attempts to optimize the kernel, etc. Never buy a netbook with W7 Starter – you will regret it!
* Better Keyboard than on most netbooks
* Non-reflective active TFT screen
* Wireless LAN card N type vs B/G type still found on Toshiba
* Very light weight
Having stated all these facts, I am going to sell my Toshiba netbook and buy this Asus gem instead.

I’d never heard of MSi – before browsing online for a laptop a couple months ago, but must say I am very impressed with the quality of this little laptop! It’s nicer than the 00 Dell I use at the office.
At 12″, this computer was the perfect size for me. I was underwhelmed by the traditional 10″ netbooks when I tried them out at a local retailer – screen was too small for me, and I didn’t care for the cramped keyboard. Nor the Windows 7 starter edition or slow CPU.
Enter the MSi U230 – I’ve got the single core AMD Neo MV-40, but rarely ever notice any slow down. I would have spent the additional for the dual core version, but it wasn’t released yet when I bought my computer (it’s still hard to find from most online retailers!).
Pros:
-Faster CPU compared to traditional netbooks with Intel Atom chip
-Windows 7 Home Premium (runs fast)
-2 gb Ram, upgradeable to 4 gb (I did this on a whim, wasn’t really necessary as Ram doesn’t max out at 2 gb most of the time)
-Full sized keyboard makes typing easy with little frustration
-1366×768 resolution, lots of space for desktop icons, web browsing, watching videos
-SD card slot, webcam, 3 usb connectors
-ultraportable size and weight (but you don’t get a cd/dvd drive – I suggest picking up an external one)
Cons:
-4 hour battery life as advertised is a stretch
-Won’t perform as well as larger, dual core CPUs notebooks
In reference to battery life, it’s advertised as 4 hours but I’ve found around 3 hours is more realistic. However, you can undervolt the CPU by about 20%, without losing any performance. I get stable performance at 0.85v at 8x and 0.70v at 4x using RMClock. Doing so I’ve stretched the battery life to over 4 hours with light computer tasks (running spreadsheets, web browsing, etc.).
Overall I highly recommend this laptop, especially if you are just looking for a laptop to compliment a desktop system, and aren’t happy with traditional netbooks.

This is a cool little netbook for a young kid. My son loves it and I have to make him put it down. I give it a high rating with the exception of the parental controls. Sinces its Windows XP and IE 7 the controls are limited so I am using a trial version of NetNanny.
Other than that I would highly recommend the product but parents need to be a little computer savvy to setup.
